Schools serving the children of Stoke Gabriel Parish

The village has its own primary school and pre-school. For secondary education, children move on to nearby High Schools.

Stoke Gabriel School is a primary school taking about 90 pupils, aged from 4 - 11 years, in four classes. The school is linked with four other local village schools, forming the Totnes Federation of Village Schools. The original Victorian school building, built to replace the older premises known as the Old School Room, which now houses the Pre-school, has recently been modernised and extended.

The Pre-school maintains close links with the primary school, which helps to ease the transition into full time schooling.

At the age of 11 most children transfer to King Edward VI Community College in Totnes, but they may sit for Grammar School entrance in Torbay if parents wish.
