2 Planning
To discuss the following planning application and receive a proposal on the recommendations of the Parish Council
Planning Application 52/0008/11/F
Applicant: Midas Homes
Proposal: Residential development comprising of erection of 43 houses and associated roads, parking and open spaces.
Location: Rowes Farm, Aish Road, Stoke Gabriel
The Chairman spoke about affordable homes advising that out of the 274 households currently on the housing list only seven currently lived in the village. It was quite likely that only one or two of those would be eligible. The District Council had received 120 letters of objection and 19 in support of the application. Cllr Tully pointed out that although the original application for 53 dwelling on one part of the site had been turned down at the appeal the decision made by the DPD Inspector had put the Parish Council in a very difficult position. Should the current application for 43 dwellings over the whole site be accepted or if it is objected to Midas could withdraw the application and build in accordance with the Inspectors recommendations. Cllr Tully then asked for views from those present. Whilst a number of those present were not happy with the application the majority that spoke were concerned about the possibility of having more dwellings built at Rowes farm and urged the Council to accept the proposal. The Chairman then asked for a proposal. Cllr Tarr then read out the proposal that Stoke Gabriel Parish Council reluctantly recommended no objection to the planning application with twelve conditions. Cllr Ellis said how unhappy she was about further development in the village but as she was very concerned at the thought of having more dwellings at Rowes Farm seconded the proposal. A vote was taken and all seven Councillors in attendance voted in favour of the proposal. As the deadline for amendments had been extended further conditions or suggestions could be added and submitted to Midas Homes and the case officer. The Chairman thanked all those who had worked so hard to fight the application and explained that the decision had not been taken lightly and that the Council had the best interests of the village to consider.
There being no other business the Chairman closed the meeting closed at 8.35pm.
