COME JOIN THE FUN AT STOKE GABRIEL FOOTBALL. A Stoke Gabriel team has been playing football for nearly 100 years. For many years local farmers allowed the team to play on their fields and the team changed at the Church House Inn. We now own our own all-weather ground in Broadley Lane where we have excellent changing facilities. We have a teashop and a licensed bar where the members of the club enjoy an active social life. The first team compete in the Devon League and Stoke teams have been titleholders twice and runners up three times in the thirteen years since the League's inception. The second team compete in the South Devon League and this year we will field an Under 15 League team and Mini Soccer teams for under 8's, under 9's and under 10's. STOKE GABRIEL FOOTBALL CLUB2005/6 Season A new season is about to begin and we are full of hope and expectations that we are going to do well at all levels. Our three men’s sides have new managers for the coming season. Graham Bedford takes over the Devon County League side and Tony Baker starts his first season as manager of the South Devon Division 2 side. Andy Horn joins the club as Secretary and manager of the third side, which will compete in the South Devon League Division 7. Our under 17’s side will be managed by Mike Calf and Adrian White. These fixtures are played on Sundays. The Mini soccer teams for Under 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 12’s train on Saturday mornings at the ground and play their league matches on a Sunday. The Under 13’s use the main pitch on a Sunday. We are planning to field a women’s team this season and their games will be scheduled for Sunday on the main pitch. If you want to play or support the team we want to hear from you. Just call Bill on 01803 782 139
As far as Mini Soccer is concerned it is important that we train the footballers of tomorrow. The club is filling a role once played by schools in teaching children teamwork and fortitude in a friendly and competitive environment. For details of Stoke Gabriel Mini Soccer click here As far as adults are concerned we have a proud tradition here and the Football Club does credit to the area and we want to continue to develop the club and its facilities and to field a first class team.
